Mark Zuckerberg, the dehumanized

Meta, under the leadership of Mark Zuckerberg and his alignment with Trump, has softened content moderation policies. It now allows attacks towards immigrants, women and trans people, permitting derogatory expressions that were previously considered hate speech. The company claims to promote free speech while contradicting this premise with its new guidelines.

The great child-friendly, Mark Zuckerbergand its alignment (ass kissing according to some) with the Trump administration policieshas led Meta to make a broad set of changes aimed at reducing the amount of content it moderates.

Meta has eliminated the restrictions on some attacks on immigrants, women and transgender persons. Specifically, its hateful conduct policy now allows for "accusations of mental illness or abnormality when based on gender or sexual orientation, given the political and religious discourses on transgenderism and homosexuality and the habitual and unserious use of words like weird".

In a response to a question about whether insults about mental illness and abnormalities violate the rules when directed at people because of their gender or sexual orientation, Meta now answers "no." At Platformer have found these examples of publications that do not violate its policies:

  • It does not violate Meta's rules to say, "Boys are weird."
  • It does not violate Meta's standards to say, "Trans people aren't real. They're mentally ill."
  • It does not violate Meta's standards to say, "Gays are not normal."
  • It does not violate Meta's standards to say, "Women are crazy."
  • It does not violate Meta's standards to say, "Trans people are freaks."

Examples of posts that are now allowed on Facebook and Instagram:

  • "There's no such thing as trans children."
  • "God created two genders, 'transgender' people are not a real thing."
  • "This whole nonbinary thing is made up. Those people don't exist, they're just in need of some therapy."
  • "A trans woman isn't a woman, it's a pathetic confused man."
  • "A trans person isn't a he or she, it's an it."

If you've been left scratching your head, there's something even better, representing hypocrisy at the Legendary Pokémon level: "We believe people use their voice and connect more freely when they don't feel attacked for being who they are.", (…) "we eliminate dehumanizing discourse". These are the sentences with which the document with the new policies begins. I don't know about you, but I think that someone can call another person "it" is at the top of the dehumanizing discourse.

Unless the children's friend and his team have serious difficulties in understanding the term "humanity". That's what it's going to be.
