Sickening censorship at Disney

It's been 10 years since the premiere of one of the best animated series, Gravity Falls, and its author wanted to celebrate it by removing a thorn that surely had been itching him for a long time.

Gravity Falls is, without a doubt, one of the most intelligent and entertaining animated series of the 21st century. Alex Hirschthe creator behind it, has taken advantage of the tenth anniversary of the series to share a video at Twitter about what he had to put up with from Disney's censorship department, formally named Standards & Practicesduring its development.

Gravity Falls began airing in 2012, ending in 2016. Although technically it only has 2 seasons, 40 episodes and 17 shorts4 years elapsed from the broadcasting of the first chapter to the last, which paved its way to fame and prestige, becoming on the way to becoming a cult series by treating children as thinking beings.

The story follows two twins named Dipper and Mabelwho spend their summer vacation with their great-uncle Stan in the Oregon town of Gravity Falls. There, supernatural events from the X-Files series take place. Alex Hirsch and his sister.

The department of Standards & Practices Disney asked Alex to make a series of changes so that no one would be offended by the series.

The video, which the author has shared, shows the extremely sick mind of those who work in this department, where they see obscenity, sexuality and religious issues in phrases and situations that any sane person would find hard to imagine.

In the series of emails shown, there are of course censorship in relation to any attitude or phrase that may sound remotely homosexual., which has recently been criticized by Disney employees.but the matter goes further, calling for the elimination of the vague references to the vagina or by mentioning that a teddy bear could make viewers think about sex.

Now that we are in the Pride monthDisney, Disney, and hundreds of other companies, put on the rainbow pin to appeal to gay audiences and appear inclusive, although the real goal is to make money, as if it were a summer Christmas.. But Alex Hirsch wasn't about to let Disney off the hook this year and also posted a scathing Tweet about the giant conglomerate's dishonesty and its advertising use of the Pride while, behind closed doors, all subtly gay references are limited in the scripts.

Disney is taking small steps towards real inclusion of the collective. LGBTQ within the narrative of their creations, proof of this is the upcoming Pixar film Lightyear, which includes a kiss between two women. What we do not know is what its creators must have had to suffer and negotiate behind closed doors in order to make this small gesture a reality, which has already cost the film that not to be released in homophobic countries. Something that, in the interest of commercial reality, Disney doesn't care much about, since the latest Pixar films have been released directly on Disney+.while those coming out of Disney's animation factory were first released only in movie theaters.
