China reaches Mars and records it with an iPhone

Apple's new promotional piece is a short film released to coincide with the Lunar New Year celebrations and about how a small Chinese village tries to promote itself by shooting a movie in its barren landscape.

Apple has released its new short film of the "Shot on iPhone" series, titled "The Comeback". It launches it now to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the most important celebration of one of the most relevant markets for the American manufacturer.

Directed by director Zhang Meng, the video kicks off the Year of the Tiger with the story of a father, a son and a forgotten village with an "out-of-this-world dream."

The 23-minute piece was shot with the iPhone 13 Pro. Like all the videos in Apple's "Shot on iPhone" series, the idea behind it is to offer an example of what is technically and creatively possible with one of its high-end phones, as long as you have the talent and the budget to put together the professional set-up behind these proposals.

Although it is filmed in Chinese, Apple has added English subtitles for those who do not speak the language. The story has the particularity of telling the story of a film shot with an iPhone. The cinematography is a delight, with a careful lighting to the extreme, as well as the interpretations and the "Martian" landscapes. Highly recommended.

Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, begins on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, and is the biggest holiday in China and other Asian countries. On this occasion we welcome the Year of the Tiger.
